HDD (320GB) - iSwat by iSwat
This is another design that I have created from scratch in my PS CS4.
I just got a brand new 320 GB Hard drive, and i liked its style so I thought it would be a great challenge to try and bring it to the digital screen. Hope u like it =P

Speaking specifically about the technical design here---this has a lot of potential, and was very well executed. The module in the center appears to be quite "functional"---in that if you picked it up and held it---it would do all sorts of things. That's a big feat for most people in a tech design.
I'm not a huge fan of the gradients used in the module. I think they could be more vibrant---but this isn't really the fault of the color choices so much as some added highlighting could make me "feel" like there's more vibrancy than there is.

To be honest though, I'm actually really attracted to the logo in the upper right (especially how the red and blue stripes play against the gray---both capping the logotype ~and~ complimenting it. The scan-lines are perfect for it. You really did a fantastic job with it and it looks just killer!

Nice work overall. Can't wait to see more. Emotion: wink.gif

Thxx. Im glad u liked the logo! =P
Yes I agree with you about the oval module. If i knew how to use flash id make this more realistic. The colors indicate the state of the device (transfer/storage/idle..etc) and theyre supposed to do more than just flash like most HDDs
By vibrant do u mean more of a 3D look? Adding highlights and burns and stuff like that to make it look more realistic?

Uhm, as far as vibrancy: not burns so much as giving more of a sheen to it, so that there's a 'brighter' feeling to the highlights, and thereby the overall color. Perhaps there's just not enough depth in hue (for my tastes) in the yellow/orange coloring. It feels like there's only a gradient there without a reason, instead of light drawing out the multiple colors and convincing me that this is an actual object. Does that help? lol

It's still nice work, and I haven't changed my mind about the logo at all!
